Lepa's Travel Diaries - Costa Rica

“Pura vida” are the two words that come to mind when I hear Costa Rica. As cliché as this might sound, these words stand true to the ethos of the country. Rugged dirt roads, lush rainforests and glistening blue waters encompass the country that is Costa Rica. While I have seen some pretty incredible destinations around the world, the biodiversity of this place is unparalleled.

Yoga… views

Wake up and start your day with a regenerative yoga class that overlooks the stunning Pacific Ocean. While the yoga style in Costa Rica is definitely a change of pace from my California vinyasa, the instructors offer a beautiful mix of regeneration and meditation. Settle into your mat, ground your thoughts, and flow through a relaxing practice.

Adventures…go wild

From buggies to ATVS to ziplines, Costa Rica has so much to offer. Hop in a car and travel to the Papagayo gulf for an epic buggy ride through bumpy off roads to a stunning, empty beach. It does not get much better than that. Listen to the Howler monkeys’ calls echo through the jungle and take in the tranquility of the endless beaches. Get a little dirty while you shred back through the dusty roads on your buggy or ATV and end the day with a refreshing dip in the stunning Costa Rican Ocean.

Water excursions… take a little splash

One of my favorite experiences to date was the catamaran excursion we took out to the Papagayo gulf. With a captain and a true local guide, we dived into the ocean to discover another world. Our guide was born and raised in the Costa Rican Ocean and he had an octopus to show for it. Well, let me clarify, he was able to dive down 20 feet and locate it. Not only did he spot this from 20 feet above, but he was able to gently gather this amazing creature and bring it up to the surface for us rookies to see.

I loved my time in Costa Rica with my twin sister, niece and daughter. As usual I was inspired by this beautiful planet and am looking forward to my next adventure!
